The Connected Recovery™ model connects concepts and tools from current models in the field related to Problematic Sexual Behaviors (PSB) Betrayal Trauma with Emotionally Focused Therapy and Sex Therapy, providing an umbrella that links all four. It creates a lens through which clinicians can help individuals, couples, and relationships including clients of all genders, sexual orientations, and relational status. Connected Recovery™ divides the process of healing into early, middle, and late recovery, providing concepts and tools for each phase of recovery, adding a relational component and a sex positive approach. Using an attachment- and trauma-focused lens throughout the process, this approach works to build connection to self (individual recovery) and connection to others (relational recovery), while reducing shame. Early recovery focuses on creating a foundation based on truth and emotional safety. Middle recovery uses traditional relational work based on EFT to build connection and increase empathy, with a trauma-sensitive lens. Late recovery centers on healing sexuality, addressing the deepest wounds and creating the deepest level of connection to self and others.

Certification in Connected Recovery™ is available at three levels. For information about certification, click here.
